What are 5 Causes of Pancytopenia?

Pancytopenia is a condition where all three types of blood cells are low—red cells, white cells, and platelets. But what causes it?

1. Bone Marrow      Disorders

Conditions like aplastic anemia or leukemia can damage bone marrow, reducing blood cell production.

2. Autoimmune      Diseases

Disorders like lupus or rheumatoid arthritis can attack healthy bone marrow cells, leading to pancytopenia.

3. Vitamin & Mineral      Deficiencies

Severe B12 or folate deficiency can impair DNA synthesis, affecting blood cell formation.

4. Infections

Viral infections like HIV, Hepatitis, or Epstein-Barr can suppress bone marrow activity.

5. Chemotherapy       or Radiation

Cancer treatments can damage the bone marrow, leading to a sharp drop in all blood cell types.
